Background & Education
Hello and Thank you for visiting my website.
Â
I am an independent candidate for the Township of Langley Council, dedicated to bringing a fresh, community-focused perspective to the decision-making table. A resident of Langley for over 15 years, I am is a proud mother of twin boys, and two huskies, deeply invested in the long-term well-being and safety of the neighborhoods we all call home.
My educational and professional journey has given me a unique combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, financial knowledge, and community leadership.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering (Environmental Option) and a Master of Applied Science from the NBK Mining Institute of BC (Mining Engineering) from the University of British Columbia. I am an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), currently working in the financial industry, I am always guided by engineering principals that are drilled in me which I continue to apply such as risk assessment, systems thinking, problem solving, resilience and long-term planning.

To complement my technical background, I earned a Certificate of Law from Queen's University, with a focus on Indigenous Law, Human Rights, and Workplace Law. I have also completed formal training in Leadership and Conflict Resolution through the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), strengthening my ability to facilitate collaboration, navigate difficult conversations, and build consensus among diverse perspectives.

During the time I was completing my masters while raising twin boys, I worked in the non-profit sector supporting individuals and families experiencing some of life's most difficult challenges. I received specialized training in domestic violence response, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, trauma-informed practice, and peer support, allowing me to provide compassionate, evidence-informed support while connecting people with the resources they needed. These experiences strengthened my understanding of the social issues affecting our communities and reinforced the importance of empathy, collaboration, and early intervention.

Most recently, I supported the Centre for Family Equity as one of the project leads in developing the K–12 Education Without Racism Report. Working alongside educators, community partners, and stakeholders, I helped contribute to recommendations aimed at creating safer, more inclusive, and equitable learning environments for students. This experience reinforced my commitment to collaboration, evidence-based policy development, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn in a respectful and welcoming environment.

Professionally, I am an Advisor, helping individuals, families, and business owners make informed decisions about protecting their financial future, building wealth, and planning for retirement. My work requires careful analysis, transparent communication, and a strong commitment to acting in my clients' best interests.

Together, my background in engineering, financial industry, and community service provides a balanced perspective that combines data-driven decision-making with compassion, collaboration, and a long-term vision for building resilient communities.
Community Involvement Story
Rooted in Our Community
Â
My connection to the Township of Langley runs deep. My journey of community service began as soon as we moved to Langley. It is one approach I follow to learn about the fabric of a community. After my twin's birth, I started learning about our community through their eyes, and in our school, I learnt about our community through parent involvement and this has grown into a lifelong commitment to strengthening our community. Last year I was nominated for the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer Award
Â
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of volunteer and leadership roles. I served as Chair of my local Parent Advisory Council, advocated for swim safety programs for our children, and worked to raise awareness about e-scooter safety through education and collaboration with local organizations. My goal has always been to help create a safer, stronger, and more connected community.Â
Â
I have also had the opportunity to serve on the SD 35 District's Emergency Preparedness Committee and Inclusion Committee, where I worked alongside educators, parents, and community partners to help create safer, more inclusive, and resilient learning environments for all students.
Â
Community collaboration has always been important to me. As an active member of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce, I have built meaningful relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders who are all invested in making Langley an even better place to live and work.

I have been honoured to support many organizations that make a positive impact in Langley, including the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS), the Langley Human Dignity Coalition, and the Rotary Club of Langley, RonCares Society, and many more. Through these organizations, I have contributed to fundraising, advocacy, education, and community outreach initiatives that bring people together and strengthen our community.

I am also proud to volunteer with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program alongside my therapy dog, Sky. Together, we have visited schools, community events, and care settings, providing comfort, connection, and emotional support to people of all ages. I have also volunteered with domestic violence prevention initiatives.

Supporting newcomers has also been an important part of my community involvement. In collaboration with Langley Community Services Society and Chamber of Commerce, I have volunteered at newcomer integration events, helping welcome immigrants and refugees into our community while educating residents, organizations, and professionals about how we can better support successful settlement, inclusion, and belonging.

One of the moments that best reflects the spirit of Langley was during the COVID-19 pandemic. My family became one of the community's "Ninja Families," quietly delivering baskets and small acts of kindness throughout neighbourhoods to brighten people's days during an incredibly difficult time.Â

Everything I do is guided by integrity, transparency, and a genuine love for the Township of Langley. I believe every resident deserves to be heard and that the best solutions come from collaboration, compassion, and community involvement.

Community service isn't something I started because I'm running for office; it's simply part of who I am. It is how I learned English and learned about our beautiful country. You can probably still find my picture in the hallways of Richmond Hospital as I volunteered many many many years ago with the Vancouver Health Services Volunteers
Â
As your councillor, I will continue to listen, collaborate, and advocate for responsible growth, resilient communities, and a Township where future generations can thrive while preserving the town feel that makes Langley such a special place to call home. I will will continute volunteers specially now that I am a rotarian :)
Why I’m Running for Langley
Over the past 15 years, I've watched Langley grow and evolve. Growth is important, but so is preserving what makes the Township special. I want to ensure we continue to grow while keeping the town feel that so many of us value.

I'm running as an independent because I believe every decision should be evaluated on its own merits, not based on party lines, slates, or political expectations. This my second run, as I ran in the By-Election in 2025
Â
In my opinion, council works best when ideas are debated openly, questions are encouraged, and decisions are made in the best interest of residents.
As someone new to council, I won't assume that "this is how it's always been done." I'll ask questions, listen carefully, challenge ideas respectfully, and make evidence-based decisions with accountability and transparency.
Â
My professional background and years of community involvement have shaped a proactive and resilient approach to leadership: learn from the past, monitor the present, respond responsibly, and anticipate proactively. I believe that's how we create thoughtful policies that serve both today's residents and future generations.

You don't have to take my word for it! You just have to come and talk to me. Ask me the tough questions. I think you'll quickly see that I'm truly an independent candidate. I'm not here to represent a slate or an agenda; I'm here to represent the people of Langley. You'll find me in our neighbourhoods, at community events, volunteering, and advocating for our community year-round; not just during an election.

I believe we can build on what's working, improve what isn't, and move Langley forward together with collaboration, respect, and practical solutions.
I'm Resha Sabti, and I'd be honoured to earn your trust and your vote for Township of Langley Council.
